Grooming FAQ
"How long will my dog's appointment take?"
Due to the highly variable nature of dog breeds, an appointment can range anywhere from 30 minutes to four hours. You are free to ask at time of drop-off though, and we will do our best to give a rough estimate based on your pup's specific grooming needs.
"How often should my dog be getting groomed?"
Again, the answer will depend on your dog's coat type and activity level, as well as your preferred styling choices. We usually recommend a trim about every six to eight weeks, but your mileage may vary!
"Can I get a discount if I ask you to skip the nail trim/ear cleaning/teeth brushing?"
Nope! They're all included with the bath or haircut, free of charge!
"My dog is very anxious, will they be okay to get groomed?"
Most likely! We have years of experience working with dogs of varying comfort levels, and just about all of them will settle down once they realize that getting a bath isn't the end of the world.
"Can I stay and watch?"
Unless it's just a quick nail trim, we do not recommend that people stay for their pup's appointment. Many dogs will become stressed when they can see their owner but can't reach them, and they may expect their person to come rescue them if they put up enough of a fuss. Saying goodbye is always hard, but we'll let you know as soon as they're all done! Besides, it's a lot more boring to watch than you'd think.
“Why did my dog get shaved, can't you just brush out the mats?”
We can try our best, but dematting a dog can be very time intensive for us and very uncomfortable and likey painful to your pup. Once the mats get tight enough the only safe option is to shave them out. The best way to avoid this is to regularly brush and comb your dog's coat so that we can leave them nice and fluffy!
“Will you take my dog out to go potty?"
Due to safety reasons, we won't take your pup outside of the salon. We ask that you please handle all biological needs prior to drop-off.
"Should I be worried about ____?"
Please keep in mind that we are not veterinarians, and nothing we tell you should be construed as medical advice. We can only give you our perspective on things as they pertain to dog grooming, and any specific concerns about your pup's medical health should be addressed with your vet.
“Are you going to give me homework on what to do between appointments?”
Only if you ask!
"You're just saying that my dog was well behaved for their haircut, aren't you?"
No, we really mean it! We've done our best to provide an environment that encourages canine cooperation and comfort. That being said, if your pup was a bit more of a handful then we'll be sure to let you know in a thoughtful manner, as well as give recommendations for ways to make their next appointment a little less stressful!
"Do you have a favorite dog to work on?"
Yes, yours.
Am I subject to any extra fees?
Yes, but only in a few instances. The first time your pup comes in for a groom with us, you are subject to an extra $25.00 fee because we like to add at least 30 minutes of TLC and plenty of breaks to your pup’s first appointment to make sure it is a positive experience. The other fee is $25.00 for extra large pups, this applies to all “giant breeds” and any dog weighing over 90 lbs.
Can my dog come in for a grooming appointment even though their vaccines are expired?
That depends on what vaccines are expired. Up to date rabies vaccines are legally required in order for us to provide service to your pet. While other vaccines such as bordetella and DHLPP are highly recommended, they are not legally required. Please see our vaccine agreement form for more details.
My dog has sensitive skin, are your products safe for them?
Yes, we have a variety of shampoo and conditioner options including unscented and hypoallergenic options. If you are aware that your dog is allergic or sensitive to specific ingredients we ask that you inform us in advance. You are also welcome to bring your own products from home that you know are safe for your pup. Just write your dog’s name and your last name on any bottles and our groomer will return them at pick up.
Should I bring anything?
Nope, not unless you want to! You are always welcome to bring your own tried and true products for our groomers to use. You may also bring treats from home.
How do I schedule?
In order to schedule you must have a Time To Pet account with us which you can make by clicking “ Join the Pack” on our home page. We will also need your pet’s vaccine records before offering you an appointment slot, you can either upload these to your account for approval or email them to us at woof@mrpupservices.com. Once you have done this you can either reach out through the Time to Pet direct messenger or email us at woof@mrpupservices.com. Only nail trims can be requested directly through the scheduling tool on Time To Pet.

For walks and outings, cancellations within six hours are subject to a 70% fee of the total service cost.
For boarding and in-home sitting, we trust our clients to provide as much notice as possible. As a general rule of thumb, we strongly prefer notice of cancellation within the amount of days you have scheduled on our calendar (eg. 2 weeks notice for 2 weeks of dog sitting). We reserve the right to refuse service to clients who repeatedly cancel without proper notice.
I’m nervous about you having my home address and access information. What do you do with that information?
This information is only available to our administrator and your primary service provider. Otherwise, it is secure and confidential.
I’m interested in joining, but wanna book something right now. Can I book ahead of our meet & greet?
We can make tentative plans, but we cannot confirm anything on our calendar without a meet & greet.

Do you take dogs who aren’t neutered/spayed?
We accept unneutered/unspayed puppies until the onset of puberty, roughly 6-9 months, depending on the development of the dog in question. When puppies begin to exhibit pubescent behavior or receive disruptive and unwanted attention from other dogs, it’s time to take a break from group outings until surgery. If your dog is intact and no longer a puppy, you can still book in-home sitting, leashed walks and drop ins.
Why do you require a Meet & Greet?
There is no one-size-fits-all method of dog care, so the meet & greet is a great chance for you to see if our style suits you and your dog’s particular needs. We will ask you some questions to guide the conversation and determine whether it’s a good match. We prefer to conduct meet & greets on your dog’s turf, to familiarize them with a new face entering their home and prepare them for their first adventure with us!
